Privacy Policy
The short version
- No account, email address or phone number is needed to use Statera $plit.
- Statera $plit has a free version and a paid version, Statera $plit Pro. In the free version, receipts are read on your device. In Statera $plit Pro, receipt photos are sent to an AI provider to be read. We do not retain receipt photos on our servers after processing.
- Groups, names and bills are stored on our server so everyone in a group sees the same thing.
- We do not sell your data. The free version shows non-personalized ads from Google. Statera $plit Pro has no ads.
What we collect and why
| Information | Why | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Receipt photos you scan | To read the items, prices, tax, restaurant, date and time | Online scans: processed temporarily by our AI provider for extraction and not retained after processing. Offline scans: processed on your device. |
| Names you type (yours and people you add) | To show who is in a group and who owes whom | Until the group is deleted or we remove the name following your request |
| Bills (restaurant, address, date, items, amounts, who paid) | To split costs and show balances to your group | Until the bill or group is deleted |
| A random device ID created by the app | To know which groups this phone belongs to, without an account | Until you use "Delete my data" |
| Count of AI scans per day | To limit misuse and keep costs fair | About 7 days |
| Ad data (free version only): device and app information, a device or advertising identifier, approximate location from your IP address, and how ads are shown and tapped | Collected by our advertising partner, Google, to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud. We ask for non-personalized ads only | Kept by Google under its own policies; Statera $plit does not receive or store it |
| Support emails | To answer your questions and fix problems | We retain support correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to address your request, maintain relevant support records, and resolve related disputes |
Note: The periods above describe active-system retention. Deleted group data and records may remain in server backups for up to 30 days before expiring; receipt photos are not retained on our servers and are not stored in these backups.
Statera $plit does not request access to your device’s location or contacts, and does not require an email address or phone number to use the app. Statera $plit itself does not collect an advertising identifier; in the free version, Google’s ad service may, as described below. Receipt photos may contain information printed on the receipt. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you send.
If you buy Statera $plit Pro, payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Statera $plit. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- An AI service provider extracts receipt details for us. Online receipt scanning securely transmits your receipt photo to this provider. We do not retain receipt photos on our servers after processing. The provider processes photos temporarily for extraction, does not retain them after processing, and is bound by an agreement forbidding them from using photos to train AI models. Offline receipt scanning processes the photo entirely on your device, and only syncs the extracted data to our server when you reconnect.
- A cloud hosting provider runs our server and stores group data securely.
- Google (AdMob) shows ads in the free version. We request non-personalized ads, meaning ads are not based on your past activity in other apps or websites, and Statera $plit does not ask to track you across apps. Google may still collect the ad data listed above for the purposes described. Learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services. No ad data is collected in Statera $plit Pro.
- People in your groups see the group's names and bills. Anyone with a group's invite code can join that group, so share codes only with people you trust.
- We may disclose information if required by law.
Your choices
- Leave a group: you stop seeing it. Your name remains on past bills to preserve the history of shared expenses.
- Delete a group: the person who created it can delete it, with all its bills, for everyone.
- Delete my data (Settings): removes your device’s group memberships, deletes its random device identifier from our active systems, and erases Statera $plit’s local data from your phone. Groups used only by you are deleted. Shared groups and their bills remain available to other members, including your display name on past bills to preserve the history of shared bills. You can email us to request removal of your display name. Deleted information may remain in server backups for up to 30 days before those backups expire. Using "Delete my data" in the app does not automatically delete support emails sent to us.
- Device Loss: If you lose or replace your device without transferring its data, you will lose access to your Statera $plit groups since no account is required.
- Ads: upgrade to Statera $plit Pro to remove ads. You can also reset or limit your device’s advertising identifier in your phone’s privacy settings.
- To ask us to remove your name from a shared group's past bills, email info@staterasigma.com.
Children
Statera $plit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Within the app, group data is available to devices authorized to access that group. Anyone with a valid invite code can join and view the group’s names and bills. We and our service providers process group data as described in this policy.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
